GPS SOFTWARE

INTRODUCTION

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a “Galaxy” of about 30 Well-Spaced Satellites orbiting the Earth, and helping ground receivers to map their Geographical Location. Location accuracy ranges from 100 to 10 meters for most equipment. Accuracy may be indicated within one meter with equipment approved by the Special Army. GPS equipment is widely used in Science and is now cheap enough so that almost anyone can have a GPS receiver.

Here’s Detail of GPS Software and How it Works.

There are 21 GPS satellite and three spare satellites in orbit about 10,600 miles from Earth. Satellites are in space so that four satellites above any horizon on any planet on Earth.

Each satellite has a computer, an atomic clock and a radio. With its own orbit and understanding of the clock, it is constantly changing and transmitting time and time again. (Once a day, each satellite checks its time and Position with a ground station and makes any minor Corrections.)

On the ground, any GPS receiver has a computer that ‘triangles’ its own position by receiving bearings from three of the four satellites. The resulting geographical position - longitude and latitude - is given to most receivers within 100 meters.

If the receiver also supplied, which displays the maps on the screen, and also they show Position on the screen.

If you are moving, your receiver can calculate your speed and direction of travel and provide you with estimated times of arrival at specific locations.

GPS Software is used in science to provide data that was previously unavailable at the scale and size of the GPS capability. Scientists use GPS to measure the movement of Arctic ice, the Earth’s tectonic plates, and Volcanic activity.

“A phone’s built-in GPS receiver interacts with an array of satellites that provide navigation instructions for an automobile or leg. Technologically advanced phones can identify Individual streets and attractions on maps and Provide Detailed tracking Capability.

Finally - the GPS device feeds all the Information, tries to find satellites, and then Calculates the GPS lock. It takes a long time because there is no known Information.
